Pollution
The pollution in Tokyo is high, however the quality of drinking water and accessibility is surprisingly good at 77.34% and the air pollution is very low 32.23%. Since 1965 Tokyo air pollution was mainly by smoke coming out of factories and the pollution of diesel powered cars. In October 2003, the Japanese government started to restrict the number of diesel powered cars. Since then things have improved regarding this type of pollution. However there are still problems in the air. About 50 years ago the people of Tokyo weren't worried about their pollution levels and thought "we will deal with it
when it gets here." Now the situation
has become urgent and people are complaining about their health (especially their lungs) and domestic car companies
have been sued millions of dollars. There has been a big impact on the pollution situation. Not only has it affected them, but the environment as well. The people living in these particular areas have had health issues due to air pollution and the most common is Asthma.
These issues have resulted in the economy being hit hard because people reduced buying cars and opted the use of public transport as a 'healthier' alternative.
